Inside a Week of Cat Rescue: Pregnant Cats, Injuries & New Beginnings

A Holy Week of Holy Chaos: Cat Rescue with Kirsten at the Helm

Easter week. While others hunted for eggs or dozed off after big meals, Kirsten was neck-deep in rescue mode. Because cats don’t follow calendars, and emergencies don’t take holidays.

Let’s start with Denzel. A sleek black cat who once flinched at the sound of footsteps. His mouth was wrecked—painful, infected, a mess. But Kirsten got him to the vet. His teeth were removed, his diet switched to soft food, and slowly, Denzel started showing his heart. Now he’s a head-bonking, purr-machine of a cat. The kind that reminds you what second chances look like.

Denzel, the sweet cat with the mouth affliction.

Then there was the cat with the neck wound. A deep, jagged injury—bad enough you’d brace yourself for the worst. But Kirsten stepped in, covered vet care, and kept showing up. And that made all the difference. He’s healing now, body and spirit both, and leaning into the good life.

And the mamas. One heavily pregnant cat was picked up by Dyana, a volunteer who jumped in when the need was there. That cat is now safe, fed, and doting on her newborn kittens. Another mama is being looked after in a quiet spot, her babies warm and protected—all under Kirsten’s watchful eye and coordinating care.

These are just the stories we can tell. The ones that didn’t end in heartbreak. And they’re only possible because of the sheer grit and heart Kirsten brings to every rescue. She doesn’t stop—not for holidays, not for sleep, not for thanks.

Behind her, a growing network of helpers, fosters, and donors pitch in when and where they can. But she’s the engine. The reason these cats get a shot at life, not just survival.

Because this kind of work doesn’t run on hope alone.
