This week on the Cat-alog Blog: three kittens, a failed reunion, and the kind of rescue work that never goes according to plan.
It started with a Facebook post. Dyana was the one who spotted it. Just three kittens, no mom, no clear backstory. Lost in the noise of the internet, but something about it felt urgent.
She passed it along to Kirsten, who tracked the situation to a feeding station in Semanario, up in Alto Boquete. It’s one of those places where people say they’re helping, but the follow-through is often lacking. The kind of spot where good intentions wear thin fast.
The kittens had been separated from their mom for two days. Kirsten wanted to try to reunite them. There was a slim chance the mother might still recognize them. But cats don’t always play by human hopes. When they brought the kittens to her, she didn’t even blink. She walked away.

So the team had a choice. Leave the kittens behind and hope for the best, or take them back and make sure they had a real shot. Judy took them in. She’s been doing this for years. No spotlight, no fuss. Just quietly stepping in when no one else will.
There were vet visits, long drives, late-night messages, and a lot of scrambling behind the scenes. But now the kittens are safe, warm, and cared for. They’ll be ready for adoption in a few months.

Not every story ends in the perfect reunion. Sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes it’s a lot of work for a small win. But those small wins add up. And that’s what keeps this whole thing moving forward.
