Before she was Nyla, she belonged to an indigenous family who, despite their affection for her, couldn’t provide the care she needed. Somewhere along the way, her back foot broke. No vet visits, no proper healing—just time and whatever pain she learned to live with. The bones fused the wrong way, leaving her with a permanent reminder of the past. As if that wasn’t enough, someone wrapped a rubber band around her foot, cutting deep into her skin.

And yet, Nyla remained soft. Sweet. Unshaken in her ability to love.

When Kirsten found out about her, she did what she always does—she stepped in. Transport to the vet? Handled. Medical bills? Covered. The care Nyla had been denied for so long? Finally, finally given to her.

Enter her foster family. They took her in, helped her heal, and somewhere between the head boops and purrs, they fell hopelessly in love. There was no question—Nyla had already chosen them. And so, what started as a rescue mission became a forever home.
