Cat-alog Blog: Seasoned Souls & Soft Food — The Story of Irma’s Elder Cats
There’s something noble about old cats.
They don’t ask for much — a warm place to nap, a quiet routine, and food they can actually chew.
But in the world of rescue, senior cats are often the quiet footnotes. The ones passed over. The ones who need care the most, but attract the least attention.
Irma lives in David, Panama. She's not rich in dollars, but she’s rich in love — the kind you measure in purrs, not paychecks. She shares her home with five elderly cats. Graying, limping, purring reminders that age touches everything, even the fiercest little predators.

Recently, Irma reached out to Kirsten. She didn’t ask for much. Just help getting the right food. Canned food. Soft stuff that doesn’t hurt when chewed. Because her cats, like many seniors, can’t handle dry kibble anymore. At $2.75 a can, it adds up fast.
Thanks to donations, Kirsten was able to say yes.
Senior cats need more than just a warm corner. They need easier food. Extra vet care. More patience. More softness in every way. And too often, they’re the ones forgotten.
But not here.
Irma didn’t let them go hungry. And Kirsten didn’t let her stand alone.

This is what your support does. It gives old souls dignity. It gives caretakers like Irma hope. And it gives cats with cloudy eyes and slow steps a quality of life that makes the end something less bitter, and a little more beautiful.
So here’s to the old cats — the ones who’ve seen things, survived things, and still curl up in the sun.
And here’s to the people who make sure they’re not forgotten.
